New Light Therapy Center is a collective of independent practitioners, each setting their own rates and services. Catherine Galascione offers Bowen Therapy to help balance the entire body. The Bowen Technique is a very gentle form of natural healing. It is a holistic therapy that addresses the entire body by restoring balance both structurally and energetically via the autonomic nervous system. In order to appreciate its subtlety and depth, it needs to be experienced. Services and rates: Bowenwork, Individual session, $70 Bowenwork, Package of 3, $180 Bowenwork uses light moves, applied to specific points on the body, with significant pauses or rests between each series of moves. The Bowen moves are performed using thumbs or fingers over muscle, ligaments, tendons, fascia, joints (and occasionally over nerves themselves) to elicit a healing response in the body. The pauses or rests, a unique feature of the work, allows the entire body to respond to and integrate what is being done. The duration of the pauses vary from person to person and from condition to condition. Sometimes referred to as the homeopathy of bodywork, Bowens sole intention is to gently encourage the body to respond by carefully stimulating its own innate ability to heal. It uses light touch to turn on the circuit breakers in the autonomic nervous system that have been turned off due to external stress and trauma. Bowen seems to catalyze the shift from sympathetic over-stimulation (fight/flight/freeze) to parasympathetic dominance (rest, relax, repair), where healing may occur. The Bowen Technique is deeply relaxing. Clients usually lie on a therapy table or may be seated in a chair, for comfort. Sessions generally last from 15 minutes to 1 hour or more. The moves may be done through light clothing if the client prefers. Because of the subtlety of the work and the bodys continuing response to it, other forms of manipulative therapy performed up to four days before, or five days after a Bowen session is not recommended as it may interfere with its effectiveness. Bowen can assist recovery from many conditions, from traumatic injury to chronic illness, depending on each individuals capacity to heal. Many conditions respond favorably to Bowen including:
